As far as the controversy over this film goes, it deserves everything it gets. The harshest depiction of a serial killer you will ever see put to film. The worst part about it is as much as you would think the film to be exploitation, it plays off more as an endurance test as to what the audience can handle. Exploitation is supposed to be enjoyable for the viewer but nothing about this film will leave you with a warm feeling inside. Unless of course you have just suffered a mortal stab wound to the chest. AUGUST UNDERGROUND is relentless in its attempt to blur the lines between realities and play-acting. Matter of fact there is no line. Remember that one scene in HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER when Henry and Otis film themselves during a home invasion as they rape and murder a family of three. Take that scene and multiply it by infinity and you won’t even come close to understanding what horrors lie ahead for you in AUGUST UNDERGROUND. As close to viewing a real snuff movie as anyone will ever have the displeasure to watch.

WARNING: If you are opposed to realistic depictions of murder, rape, torture and brutality, avoid this film at all cost. It will offend and disgust those who enjoy family friendly films as well as those who thought that the snuff film in that Nicholas Cage movie was harsh.

SUB-WARNING: Absolutely no one under the age of 18 will be admitted into this film so don’t even try it.

SUB-SUB-WARNING: This is not a film to bring a date to. Try DEVIL FETUS instead.
