Italy, 1972, directed by Umberto Lenzi
35mm, 90 minutes, screening Sunday, Oct 31st at 7:00 pm

From director Umberto Lenzi (Cannibal Ferox, aka. Make Them Die Slowly) comes the fist of the Italian ‘cannibal’ films. Ivan Rassimov (Jungle Holocaust) stars as a British reporter vacationing in Thailand. After stopping off for a drink at the local pub, Rassimov accidentally bumps into a local, and stabs him in the chest. Poor old Ivan makes a run for it, into the vast uncharted jungle. Not the smartest move. He charters a boat to take him down the deep river, where his guide is killed and he ends up being taken prisoner by the local tribe. They torture him a little, make him do menial labor, have him perform a surgery, typical prisoner stuff. One of the tribe’s women, Me Me Lay (Oh does she?), falls in love with him. After they are betrothed to one another, he is forced to defend his new love and her people when a neighboring tribe of cannibals attack and pillage the town. Meat lovers rejoice, this might be your only chance to see MAN FROM DEEP RIVER on the big screen.
