35mm, 88 minutes, screening Friday, Oct 29th at Midnight

Based on the Manga of the same title, this Hong Kong production holds no punches as it soaks the screen in that crimson gold. After being admitted to a maximum-security prison for murdering the guys who tried to rape his girlfriend, and taking seven bullets in the process, Ricky tries his best to fit in and do his time. The other inmates don’t seem to want to let the poor guy be. He can’t even go to the bathroom without having to impale a guy’s face on a bed of nails. Even the leaders of the Gang of Four, the toughest guys in the prison, can’t stand up to Ricky’s ability to punch through people’s heads, avoid being strangled by his enemies intestines, and survive being buried for two weeks and still come out fighting. One of the many priceless moments finds our hero’s arm injured after being attacked. Knowing good and well that he won’t be able to defeat his assailant with an injured arm, he pulls out his veins and tendons and ties them together so as to regain the use of his arm. . This Ricky…this guy…he’s a good guy, this guy.
